Call
name - Corky ( retired )
Corky
came to us to us as secret cargo. I drove to Florida to pick up his
dam, Blue. I hadn't planned on her coming in whelp, however. About a
month after bringing her to Texas, she surprised us with a litter even though she was too young,
(just under a year old ), to
use for breeding in my opinion. The breeder declared she
wasn't aware of how it could have occurred. Accidents do
happen and I suppose it was for the best as Corky turned out to be our saving
grace being proven CEA & TNS clear. I did sell him as a young pup,
but it didn't work out and again Corky was placed in my hands. I
didn't like the tight inbreeding as I don't breed that close, but it
has turned out to be a healthy line after all. I'll always believe
Corky was a father to daughter breeding, but a brother to sister
breeding is what the breeder did the paperwork as....
Corky
is a Dominant K Sable, but appears to be a black/white. He has
produced sables in every litter. I couldn't figure this out until
research found the gene for the 'K' which hides patterns. In this
case, sable. He carries the blue/dilute gene
recessively. Corky is a beautifully structured boy with tons of coat
and has an awesome temperament!
He sustained an injury due to
an accident October of 2008.We gave him additional time to recoup
with hopes of improvement. Corky did get better, but hasn't improved
enough to be able to continue being used as a stud. So, he has been
retired from our breeding program and placed into a companion home.
We still a
half sister, two daughters,
Button,
Pudge and one
grand daughter.
